Narrator:
It was Monday morning. Tom was unhappy. He wanted to stay in bed. He didn't want to go to school. He thought, "If I am sick, I can stay home."
Narrator:
He looked at his toe. It hurt a little. He started to groan loudly.
Tom:
"Ooooo! Ooooo!"
Sid:
"Tom! What is the matter?"
Tom:
"Oh, Sid. Don't touch me. I am dying."
Narrator:
Sid was afraid. He ran downstairs.
Sid:
"Aunt Polly! Come quick! Tom is dying!"
Aunt Polly:
"Dying? Rubbish! I don't believe it."
Narrator:
She ran to Tom's room. Her face was white.
Aunt Polly:
"Tom, what is wrong with you?"
Tom:
"Oh, Auntie, my sore toe is dead!"
Aunt Polly:
(Laughing) "Oh, Tom! You are not dying. Get up!"
Tom:
"But Auntie, my tooth is loose. It hurts."
Aunt Polly:
"Open your mouth. Yes, it is loose. I will pull it out."
Tom:
"No, no! Please don't pull it! I will go to school!"
Narrator:
But it was too late. Aunt Polly pulled the tooth out.
