Tom: "Aunt Polly, may I go and play now?"

Tom: "Yes, it is all done."

Narrator: Aunt Polly goes to see. She is very surprised.

The fence is all white! She is very happy. She gives Tom a big red apple.

Narrator: Later, Tom sees a new girl in a garden. She has yellow hair and blue eyes.

Tom likes her very much. He dances for her. The girl gives him a flower.

Narrator: At dinner, the family sits together. Tom's brother, Sid, reaches for the sugar bowl. Crash!

The bowl falls and breaks. But Aunt Polly hits Tom!

Tom: "Stop! I didn't do it. Sid broke it!"

Narrator: Aunt Polly is sorry, but she does not say it. Tom is very sad.

He goes to the new girl's house at night. He stands under her window. Suddenly, a maid throws cold water on him. Poor Tom runs home.
